1/20th of a Second.

I shot this image last fall while waiting for my son's race to start.

I had the awesome opportunity last Saturday to attend the women's World Cup races in Aspen, Colorado.  This side trip was not in our original travel plans so I was totally unprepared equipment wise.  I ended up photographing the giant screen using my 50mm lens.  The results were completely serendipitous.  The only post-processing on this image was cropping.

Morphogenesis

This image is from a newly started series that I think I am going to title "In Sight.".  The series is an attempt to explore our minds and interiors through the use of in-camera multiple exposures.
I submitted this image to The Newspace Member's Show, to which it was accepted, under the title "Morphogenesis."  I may still change the title of this particular image to be more in line with the series as a whole by expanding the name to "Morphogenesis of the Mind."
I will be posting more images in this series shortly.

The Second Annual Holga Out-of-the-Box Show

I was honored to have two of my images juried into the 2nd Annual "Holga Out-of-the-Box" Show at the TCC Gallery in Longview, Texas.  The juror for the show was Michael Kenna, whose work I greatly admire.
The first image, pictured above, was accepted into the gallery.  The second image, Sunset at PIR/The Lone Spectator, was accepted into the on-line gallery.  I previously posted Sunset at PIR/The Lone Spectator on Feb. 7th, 2011 on this blog.
The show opens on October 4th at the TCC Gallery in Longview, Texas.

Rayko Plastic Camera Show

My friend Stuart made it to the Rayko Plastic Camera Show in San Francisco and took some photos of the show.  You can see my images (bottom left in both images.)  I wish I could have gone myself but it is not in the cards (or my budget) this year.  It looks like there are a lot of fantastic images.

Rayko Plastic Camera Show

The Rayko Plastic Camera Show in San Francisco is coming up on January 18th!  I had two images accepted this year.  I heard the opening last year was very well attended with over 400 people!
This image was shot this fall outside of Portland Oregon at a Cross Crusade Cyclocross Race.  We have had an unusually sunny fall and winter this year even though it is a La Nina weather pattern (which for us usually means more snow.)
The other image was posted in August and was titled "Sun Circle."  I feel very honored to have had my work chosen for this wonderful show.

Dreaming of a White Christmas...in Hawaii

I shot this image a year ago when I was in Hawaii.  I really enjoyed the holiday decorations.  People went over the top with decorations even re-creating snow by using white plastic on their front lawns.  I grew up around snow so I thought it was really funny.  It was the first time in my life that I was somewhere warm during the holiday season.  I shot this image using my original Diana and Kodak Portra VC160 film.

Newspace Member's Juried Show

I had an image accepted into the Newspace Member Juried Show which opened tonight.  Karl and I went to Portland for the gallery opening and enjoyed seeing the show.  There was a wonderful variety of work shown.
This image was shot on Kodak T-Max 400 and printed in a traditional wet darkroom.

View of Mt Hood 1

This image is from a newly started series called "Views of Mt Hood."  I love the many ways and places people choose to dipict Mt Hood.  Most of the images I have shot so far are murals where Mt Hood is somehow included.  Some of the murals are historical scenes, while others have Mt Hood included as part of a logo.  This one was painted on a wall in an industrial area.  My intention is to include some indication of location in all the images in this series.

Sun Circle

Here is one of the color shots from my trip to the water park a few weeks ago.  This image also got accepted into the Blue Moon Camera Customer Show.  This was the first time I had brought film there to be processed and they did a wonderful job.  The color and density is printed well and the prints even have borders which is kind of cool.  And I didn't even know about the customer show.  If the person printing runs across an image that strikes them they set it aside and then all the employees decide whether or not to put it in the show.  Then at the end of the year they put them all up (last year had about 140 images) and they have a gallery opening and a show.  I had two images accepted so that was a little bonus when I went to pick up my film.

Water World

I had a ton of fun bringing my Holga to a huge outdoor water park a few weeks ago.  I shot five rolls of film in three hours and spent the rest of my time doing some of the slides and the wave pool.  I don't normally shoot alot of color film but I did do two rolls.  I will drop those off later this week and hopefully I got a few color images as well.

Cyclocross

I've been printing whenever I can as I am hoping to put these together as a show.  Right now I am looking for places to hang my work.  I've contacted a couple local coffee shops and am considering asking a bike shop or two as well.
